Have got a quote for a closed whitewater rescue technician course to be ran at the Tryweryn.
This is awarded by rescue 3 and is internationally recognised. It is deemed suitable and fulfils the safety and rescue requirements for both the new 4 and 5 star(UKCC endorsed) in addition to fulfilling certain requirements of other qualifications which are part of the coaching scheme. The course lasts for 3 days usually these are ran fri, sat and sun however a sat, sun and mon arrangement may be possible including bank holiday weekends. The award is valid for 3 years and to revalidate this it is significantly cheaper this can also be renewed by attending the course that is the next level up e.g.SRT.
The Pre-requisites for Attending the Course are as follows
Confident swimming in moving water
River / whitewater experience recommended but NOT mandatory.
Minimum 18 years of age.
Costs are shared between the group and then there is a individual fee this breaks down as follows.
Course cost £913 (A maximum of 8 students are allowed on each course)
Individual fee £40
So if a course for 8 people is organised it will be £114.13 + £40 giving a total cost of £154.13
If a course for 6 people is organised it will be £152.17 + £40 giving a total cost of £192.17
The list price is £242.72 so this represents a fantastic saving.
